The NEATA Festival is a five-day-long delight of theatre performances and workshops attended by about 200 people from the Nordic and Baltic countries – and from Europe in general – who represent theatre.
Princess Marie, who is their patron, opened the festival and attended the opening of the performance Prodigal, held at the Sønderborg Theatre. She looked pretty in her favorite grey cardigan matched with a soft pink dress.
This is just one of her several patronages in which she has an intense interest. Her Royal Highness is also patron of:
- AIDS-Fondet (The AIDS Foundation)
- Copenhagen Jewellery Fair and the Bella Nordic Jewellery Award
- Danish Ski Federation
- The Danish National Commission for UNESCO
- National Association for Autism
- Prix littéraire des Ambassadeurs
- Tønder Festival
NOTE: If the name Sønderborg sounds familiar, there’s a reason: HRH The Duke of Edinburgh hails from the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, as he was born a Prince of Greece and Denmark. It is the senior line of the House of Oldenburg. The junior lines of this house extend to the current Danish, Greek, and Norwegian monarchies.
